Impressionism

Have you seen works by Monet?! Then you know impressionism! Impressionism was a revolutionary 19th-century French art movement focused on capturing the "impression" of a moment, emphasizing light, color, and movement with visible, short brushstrokes, ordinary subjects (like landscapes, leisure, city life), and outdoor painting (en plein air) to show changing light, moving away from rigid academic styles and influencing later art like Post-Impressionism (Monet, Renoir, Degas, Cassatt, Pissarro).

Claude Monet's painting Bridge over a Pond of Water Lilies

Imagine artists wanting to paint how things felt and looked in a quick glance, like sunlight sparkling on water or people rushing by in a park, using bright, quick dabs of color instead of sharp lines, making art feel alive and immediate, like a quick photo.
